Audio plugin / Windows x64 VST3

YOUWASHOCK!Reborn

The YOU WA SHOCK! sound, in a plugin that runs in a current DAW.

This is my independent fan recreation of the original YOU WA SHOCK! plugin. It keeps the four characters and the one big dial, runs as a native 64-bit VST3 using the recovered processing, and adds a few extra controls.

This is not a product from or endorsed by Red Shine Sound, the original developer.

The workflow

One big dial,
and a few extras.

The A–D selector and the Amount dial still do most of the work. The extra controls are there when you want them.

Four characters, one Amount dial

A–D retain the original processing characters and their compression, saturation, filters and stereo behavior. The central dial keeps that familiar, immediate workflow.

Wet blend and output trim

Set the Wet blend independently of Amount, then adjust Output from −12 to +12 dB. The dry side of Wet follows the original crossover phase; Bypass returns aligned, unfiltered input.

Hear what it's doing

Delta lets you hear the processed contribution against the phase-matched dry reference. Two comparison memories store alternate settings inside your DAW project.

Keep an eye on levels

Input and output sample-peak meters include overload indicators. Optional Level Match applies an approximate, fixed makeup adjustment for the selected character and Amount.

Themes and resizing

Choose from five themes and resize from 100% to 300%. Reborn remembers the last size and lets you save a default, with hover help, fine adjustment and keyboard control.

Native Windows VST3

The recovered engine runs directly in a 64-bit plugin without a 32-bit bridge. Mono and stereo, parameter automation and project state recall support a modern DAW workflow.

The interface

Pick a theme.

Vintage is the worn cream and plum look, and the others are cleaner. They all have the same layout, the same controls and the same sound.

Original & Reborn

What's the same,
and what's new.

The four characters and the Amount dial are still the core. Reborn puts them in a current plugin format and adds some practical controls.

The starting point

The original is a small panel built around one dial. With Reborn I wanted to get that processing into a current Windows plugin without losing how direct it is.

Original plugin and interface: Red Shine Sound. Reborn is an independent fan recreation by AVALE, not a product from or endorsed by the original developer.

Comparison reflects the supplied original Windows plugin and Reborn 1.19.7. The current build focuses on the original A–D engine and the controls shown above.

Development status

Still in testing.

The automated tests look good so far. I'm still testing playback and compatibility in real DAWs, so treat this build as a work in progress.

Recorded validation for 1.19.7

Preserved reference clips
349exact float32 matches
Automated test suites

47passed

These results come from the project’s recorded test reports. Fresh user-DAW playback and null exports have not been verified for this build.

How the original-engine comparison was checked

The reference set contains 13 captures from the original DLL at 48 kHz and 336 separately labelled offline references generated from its original numeric routines. Together they cover 47,149,152 sample values; the offline set spans twelve rates from 8 to 384 kHz and silence/resume cases.

Exact matches require identical float32 input, sample rate, reset state, processing blocks, A–D selection and static Amount. Wet is 100%, Output is 0 dB, and Level Match, Bypass and Delta are off. Only the declared VST3 latency padding is removed. This does not establish original-plugin equivalence for every automation or DAW scenario.

Reborn reports 192 samples of latency at 48 kHz, about 4 ms, and aligns the different character delays, dry path and bypass for host compensation. The recovered engine runs as native C++, SSE2 and x87 assembly without loading the original DLL.
