The problem

Prices and stock change without warning, and checking a pile of shop pages by hand gets old fast.

What I built

An app for Windows and Android that checks the pages for you, remembers what it saw, and tells you when something changes. Everything is stored on your own devices.

Under the hood

The interesting parts

Finding the right price

A product page is full of numbers. Scoutly picks out the main price, keeps unit prices (per kilo, per litre) separate, and ignores cart totals and unrelated offers.

Just paste a link

On Android you give it a product URL and it finds the price. No desktop browser and no CSS selectors needed.

Price history

Every check is saved, so you can see how a value has moved by the hour, day or month, and compare the same product across different shops.

Sync without an account

Windows and Android share one encrypted workspace through a sync file. There's no account to create, and your data stays on your devices.

Background checks

The Android app checks in the background and sends a system notification when something changes. The Windows app adds tools for comparing listings, correcting values and teaching it new sites.

Verified updates

Each release comes with SHA-256 checksums, and the apps check every update against a publisher key built into them.
